Your Go-To-Market Strategy: The Art of Storytelling
Given the traditional expectations of careers for South Asians, the S/lashie Summit aims to inspire those in and beyond our network to value their creative pursuits beyond the status quo. More than 50 percent of millennials living in the USA have a side hustle — which is enough validation for South Asians to harness their passions as well but we do have the same access to resources, tools, expertise and mentors we can lean on? S/ashie Summit is a space for individuals to cultivate their purpose, share knowledge and ultimately feel that their creative passions can be a sustainable reality.
Slashies are generally members of the millennial demographic, who choose to include various ‘side hustles’ in their professional titles to which they devote their time—in addition to their nine-to-five. Our community thrives when more creative minds and independently-led companies join the conversation, and that’s why we ourselves are Slashies. We are a group of South Asian millennial creatives who celebrate “non-traditional” career paths and seek to redefine professional success. The summit is an inclusive space welcoming of male allies, gender non-conforming, queer, and transgender individuals of South Asian descent.
Community: We strive to bring together a community of like-minded, creatively-motivated individuals and facilitate connections and conversation.

Empowerment: We seek to inspire individuals to believe their creative passions can be a sustainable reality and empower them with the knowledge to do so.

Passion: We are committed to helping you cultivate your passion and your purpose with every workshop, panel and keynote.
What do I need to bring?
Aside from your enthusiasm to learn and meet new people, please bring your ticket (printed or mobile is fine) and valid photo / state ID. P.S. The venue has tight security and all attendees must present a photo I.D. to gain access, so don’t forget yours!
What should I wear?
We have a stacked agenda and a full day of learning, networking, and fun, so we encourage you to keep it cute and comfortable (and check the weather, so you’re prepared!) If you need some inspiration, check out our S/ashie Summit: What to Wear Pinterest board for ideas.
Where should I stay?
There are tons of hotel options in close proximity to the S/ashie Summit venue.

Casamia — walking distance 0.3 mile
New Yorker — 0.5 mile

How do I get to the summit?
The S/ashie Summit is being held at Location05 in Hudson Yards (450 West 31st Street, New York, NY – 7th + 8th FL). Depending where you are staying, you can take a Lyft/Uber/Taxi, walkover or take public transportation.

There are several train stations just a short walk away: 7 at 34th St – Hudson Yards (3 blocks away) A, C, E at 34 St – Penn Station (3 avenues away)
How do I know which workshop (s) to attend?
If you purchased a “Hustling” ticket, you receive an email that gives you the option to choose your top workshops of choice from which you will be slotted into two and will be notified ahead of time. Due to limited capacity and in order to provide a seamless experience for all, we are unable to grant any last minute workshop change requests.
Will you feed me?
Creativity calls for fuel! We have all our Slashie needs in mind for grub and will be providing breakfast, lunch, snacks and dessert at the summit. We’ll also provide our S/ashie Social guests with small bites, beverages, canned wine and dessert throughout the day. A big thanks to our food/beverage partners.
Why are tickets non-refundable?
In order for S/ashie Summit to be a positive experience for all, ticket sales are vital to ensure all panels, workshops and networking opportunities are planned with a final headcount so each attendee receives the best possible experience. While tickets are non-refundable, we are happy to transfer your ticket from one slashie to another — please send us an email so we can sort this out seamlessly.
Do I get a Swag Bag?
The Slashie Team wants you to take the //// love home, however, due to the overwhelming response in ticket sales, Slashie swag bags will be available on a first come first serve basis, so come by bright and early (by 9AM) to get your hands on some goodies! Want to see more? See our full coverage of last year’s summit here.
Will you take photos & video of me?
Cheese for the camera! We have a team of photographers, videographers and press covering the summit from morning to evening. By purchasing a ticket, you consent to have your photo taken or video captured and shared online, in print and on television in relation to S/ashie Summit 2019.
Will you sell tickets at the door?
Yes, tickets will be sold first come first serve at the door from 8AM to 5PM on November 9th. Entry is not guaranteed.
